Wolf Hunting at Klotz Lake Camp
There are two species of wolf in Ontario – the gray wolf found in boreal and tundra regions of Ontario and the eastern wolf found in the forests of central and northern Ontario. Many early European settlers in North America viewed the wolf as a threat to public safety, as competitors for large game species (deer and moose) and as predators of domestic livestock. To encourage wolf harvest, there were no restrictions on harvesting and Ontario paid a bounty on wolves from 1793 until 1972 when the bounty was revoked.

Generally wolves live in pack sizes ranging from two to nine wolves, although the largest pack documented in Ontario numbered 19 wolves. The territory size of a pack depends of the availability of prey within that area. The Wildlife Management Units used for hunting wolves by Klotz Lake Camp have a very high density of prey, including moose and caribou.

You will be hunting wolves in the winter months and quite possibly in deep snow and very cold temperatures. Heated ground blinds are used and your shots can range anywhere from 50 to 200 yards. There are many colour combinations – silver, black, gray, etc.

You will need to bring the following: Food, towels, toiletries, medications, etc., a variety of clothing and outerwear including blaze orange head gear and coat/vest; a cooler or container for the hide, your weapon of choice (rifle, bow or muzzleloader) and a case. A hunting license from your home state (very important) is required in order to obtain your small game license in Ontario. Don’t forget your knives, compass, flashlight, binoculars, GPS and cameras. Your snowmobile must be registered, insured and you must wear a helmet. It also wouldn’t hurt to bring some ice fishing gear too!

Remember: No handguns are permitted in Canada.

Please contact us directly via email or phone for a price on hunting wolves. Based on the hunt desired, we’ll get you an all-inclusive price.
