"Your Canadian Fishing and Family Outfitter for Over 50 Years"
Black Bear Hunting at Klotz Lake Camp

CHECK OUT THE NEW BEAR PICTURES FROM THIS YEAR!

Hunting the black bear is one of the most thrilling big game hunts in North America. The powerful and crafty black bear, with its keen sense of smell will excite even the most stalwart of hunters as he approaches your bait.

Ontario has a black bear population of 75,000 to 150,000 bears. Our private Black Bear Management Unit is in the Boreal Forest and averages nearly 15 bears for every 100 square kilometers (or 60 square miles). That is a lot of bear! Klotz Lake Camp boasts Pope & Young scoring bears and bears over 350 pounds every year.

Having operated Klotz Lake Camp for over 50 years, and living here year-round, we have the knowledge and experience to make your bear hunt, "the black bear hunt of a lifetime"

"Please contact us directly via phone or email for specific hunt prices. As we offer various combination hunts, and will customize either tree-stand bait or a ground blind, based on personal preference. It’s easier to give you a price if you can tell us what you’re interested in hunting/fishing while you’re here. Thank you."

BLACK BEAR HUNTING PACKAGE

Our bear hunts runs from Saturday or the following Friday. When you arrive on Saturday afternoon, you will check-in, relax, get your license, and sight-in your rifle or bow. To get an Ontario Hunting License, you must bring with you a hunting license from your home state, as proof of hunting experience.

On Sunday, we take you out and show you your bait and where to set up your treestand. These locations are geared to the bear's approach paths and prevailing wind. Our locations are baited with our own baits and scents from early spring to make a traditional food site for the bear. You will place your treestand 10 to 15 feet high and your shooting range will be between 12 to 20 yards. After being shown your bait and how to rebait, you will be ready to start your hunt. We will supply you with a full bait bucket every day to replenish your bait, because we believe that the bear will get used to your scent at the bait site more quickly. This will give you a much needed advantage on this cagey animal.

Many of our hunters have more than one bear hit their bait at the same time and even seen them fighting under their stands. Imagine the thrill! We only take a limited number of hunters each week so we can give you the personal attention needed to help make your hunt successful, and we do have an excellent success rate - over 80%. When you make your kill, we will skin your trophy and you cut up the meat. Freezing of the hide and meat is included with your hunt. Also included is a boat and motor for each party so you can enjoy our excellent fishing when you're not on the stand and after you have made your kill.

If you own an ATV, or have access to one, we encourage you to bring it along. We have some baits that are quite a distance from well traveled roads. To operate your ATV in Ontario, you need legal documentation from your home state, including insurance and a helmet. Your bow and rifle must be encased a half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise, so be sure to bring a soft case with you to bring your weapon home at night.
